北新地に朝がきた
多くの日本人は「北極の海氷が融解したら海水面が上がる」と錯覚していた。氷が水に浮くのは凝固することにより体積が膨張するからであり、融解しても水面の高さは一定である。これがアルキメデスの原理だが、日本では長年にわたり専門家の発言や報道によって間違って理解されていた。驚くべきことである。科学技術立国といわれるこの日本で何が起こっているのか。
